I’m looking forward to seeing all language arts classes in for a library update session during January because:
1. I want to make sure you know how to take advantage of the library catalog including how to place holds for books on your own and how to access the catalogs of all the other school libraries in Portland.
2. I want to show you how to us the “Novelist” database which is a huge help for choosing novels to read.
3. I’d like to know who has set a goal for themselves to read at least 3 Maine Student Book Award books. I have a handout that will help you keep track of the books you are reading as well as helping you decide which book will win your vote.

What do you think about having library books go out for 3 weeks rather than 2 weeks before they are due back at the library? That way you could have 3 weeks to read a book before it becomes overdue. Let me know what you think. It is an easy change to make.
We are having to send out way too many overdue notices - we would rather be figuring which new books we should be purchasing for the library. So, would you please look in the back of the library books you have checked out, see when the book is due and return it to the library by that date? REMEMBER, we are always willing to let you have the book longer if no one else is waiting for it. THANKS.

The Maine Student Book Award MSBA nominee books are in the library now on display. They will be on display for the next 2 days. We will start circulating them on Friday being sure to fill as many of the requests as possible.
Just thought I would try a blog as a way to contact students, staff and parents about the Lyman Moore Middle School Library. It is easy for you to offer comments which I would like to receive.
